NU-VIZION IN NEED OF SUPPLIES

Our mission focus for the entire month of February will be Nu-Vizion Church in Toledo’s northwest side.  Nu-Vizion has been celebrating their jubilee year (a special anniversary).

Over the years, they have experienced many failures and setbacks – but they also have seen amazing progress, with God’s touch written all over them, to individuals and families.  These people are a part of Nu-Vizion’s outreach programs.

As with any program, funds and supplies are always needed.  We at St. Paul hope to reach out to this fellow church and its people.

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, we are asking instead of candy, cards and other gifts for those you love, say “I love you” with a gift of money or supplies in their honor for Nu-Vizion.  Containers will be at all the church doors and also as you enter the Educational Building.  Say “I care!”  Say “I offer you my Christian love!” with these much-needed items for Nu-Vizion.

As you live through these days may you know that you are doing God’s work.   You are reaching out and helping those who are in need of the most basic supplies.

Look over the list below and ask yourself, what can I do?  What can I give?

SAND DAM PROJECT OF THE YEARKICK-OFF DINNER PLANNED

On February 26, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., we would like to invite you to be a part of a fun-filled, informative experience.  Come and eat an African dinner (somewhat modified to fit American taste buds!).  Hear African music; see African clothing; experience African jewelry; but most of all learn why the sand dams are so very vital to the survival of these beautiful women, children and men.

A small sand dam will be there for you to view and experience.  Find out how very difficult life is without enough water for even your basic needs.  Learn all of this and enjoy the fellowship of your neighbors and friends.

Dinner will be served family style at 6:00 p.m., with the cost of a donation.  Come out for a night of enjoyment while helping your fellow man.

The proceeds will go toward the Sand Dam Project of the Year.  The evening events will be for the whole family.  Reservations are requested.  Please complete  the reservation form on the back page of this Beacon or call the church office by Feb. 22.  See you there.

A THANK YOU FROM HEIFER INTERNATIONAL

December 15, 2011

Dear Friends:

Thank you so much for your generous gift to Heifer International, where it has already been put to work toward igniting transformation in families and projects all over the world.

While it’s winter here at home, thousands of families around the world are entering into their summer harvest, with an abundance of fruits and vegetables for the first time ever, thanks to the gift of livestock and training in their care.  A new confidence in sustainable livelihoods allows project participants to grow ever more self-reliant, rather than face hopelessness and defeat.

Best of all, through our cornerstone Pass on the Gift, another family will receive the animals and training they need to start a powerful and life-changing journey of their own. Thank you for making this possible.

Sincerely,

Pierre U. Ferrari

President and CEO

A THANK YOU FROM WASHINGTON UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

December 16, 2011

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your recent gift of $320, in addition to all you brought us for Christmas.  We appreciate so much your continuing support of Washington United Church of Christ.

As you know, this Sunday, December 18, we will provide over 100 families with gift items and some basic necessities.  We expect to give each child (about 350) an outfit, socks, underwear, gloves, hat and a few toys.  Each family will receive a food box.

Your gift keeps all the outreach ministries going in Camp Washington.

Thank you, from Washington UCC and Rev. Pam DeFusco, for making this possible.

Sincerely,

Laurel Humes

Church Council, Washington UCC

A THANK YOU FROM THE UNITED STATES NAVY

December 20, 2011

Dear Friends,

We have received quite a number of treats that were sent from your organization to the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of Provincial Reconstruction Team Khost.  Such a gift not only gives physical support by providing appreciated goods, but the kindness of the act lifts the spirits of the recipients when they are far from their homes and families.

The PRT has a unique mission working alongside the people of Khost Province to develop their government and infrastructure.  We believe strongly in the lasting good of what we are here to accomplish.

I would like to personally thank you for your on-going support of our entire Team.  Without the backing of patriotic Americans on the home front, we would be unable to perform our important work alongside the people of Afghanistan and serving our Nation’s interests.

Warmest regards,

Bradley E. Brewer
